User Agreement

Please review the following User Agreement carefully before using the ITTATC site.

BY USING THIS SITE AND/OR VIEWING MATERIAL ON THIS SITE, YOU AGREE TO BECOME BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT USE THIS SITE OR ANY PORTION THEREOF IN ANY FORM OR MANNER.

User Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy

USE OF THE SITE IN ANY FORM OR MANNER CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT TO COMPLY WITH ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT.

This Agreement ("Agreement") governs the use of the ittatc ("Site") developed by the Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access ("CATEA") at Georgia Institute of Technology ("GIT") with funding from the National Institute on Disability Rehabilitation Research ("NIDRR") of the U.S. Department of Education under cooperative agreement #H133A000405. The opinions contained in this publication are those of the grantee and do not necessarily reflect those of the Department of Education. Georgia Tech Research Corporation ("GTRC") has exclusive rights to all materials and information appearing on this site.

The mission of the Site is to provide up-to-date, easy to use access on a wide range of disability-related resources on the Internet with a focus on information and materials related to accessible electronic and information technology and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Section 255 of the Telecommunications Act. In order to maximize the benefit of the Site, users must agree to and abide by the terms of usage.

Modifications to the Agreement

GTRC reserves the right to add, change, or modify, from time to time, sections of this Agreement without notice. GTRC shall take reasonable steps to indicate which sections have been added, changed, or modified. Users are encouraged to monitor the User Agreement document in its entirety on a periodic basis. Your use of the Site constitutes your agreement to comply with these additional rules.

Terms of Usage

Information, materials, comments and all other submissions to the Site by you or any other user become the property of GTRC upon submission.

GTRC does not endorse, support, sanction, encourage, verify or agree with the comments, opinions or statements posted. Any information or material placed online by you or any other user, including advice and opinions, is the view and responsibility of the submitter and does not necessarily represent the view of Site.

The terms for usage are intended to protect and preserve the mission of the Site as stated above. If you do not want or cannot abide by all of the terms of this Agreement you may not use this Site in any manner whether directly or indirectly.

Use of the Site by You

GTRC grants you the right to use the Site to submit and review information and other materials related to disability-related resources and issues. This right to use the Site is personal to you. You may not authorize others to use the Site. You are solely responsible for all of your own use and actions while on the Site. You agree not to use any obscene, indecent or offensive language, or to place on the Site any material that is false, defamatory, abusive, harassing or hateful in nature. Furthermore, you may not place on the Site any material that is encrypted or coded, constitutes junk mail or unauthorized advertising, invades anyone's privacy, encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense or give rise to civil liability, or that otherwise violates any local, state, national or international law or regulation. You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes that are directly related to the mission of the Site as stated herein.

You are responsible for ensuring that any material you provide to the Site including but not limited to text, photographs and sound, does not violate the copyright, trademark, trade secret or any other personal or proprietary rights of any third party. Material provided to the Site shall become the property of GTRC and all rights in the material shall be transferred thereof.

Material on the Site is for your personal use only. GTRC does not grant you any other rights to any of the material on the Site. You may not in any way make commercial or other unauthorized use, by publication, re-transmission, distribution, performance, caching or otherwise, of material obtained through the Site, except as permitted by the Copyright Act or other law.

You agree not to disrupt, modify or interfere with the Site or its associated software, hardware and servers in any way, and you agree not to impede or interfere with others' use of the Site. You further agree not to alter or tamper with any information or materials on, or associated with, the Site.

You acknowledge that the GTRC, CATEA, GIT or any employee thereof has not reviewed and does not endorse the content of this Site or any content on any sites linked to and from this Site and is not responsible for the content or actions of any other sites linked to and from this Site. Linking to any other Service or Company site from this Site is at your sole risk.

Use of Material Posted by You

Postings to the Discussion Areas and other areas of this Site are not private. You grant GTRC and its designees the unrestricted right to use, reproduce, modify, translate, transmit and distribute any information or material you supply or communicate to the Site via such postings, in any medium now in existence or hereafter developed, for any purpose, including commercial uses.

You agree that GTRC, CATEA, GIT or any employee thereof is not responsible, and shall have no liability to you, with respect to any information or materials posted by others, including defamatory, offensive or illicit material.

Privacy Agreement

It is governed by the overall privacy policy of GA Tech's main web site: http://www.gatech.edu/legal-privacy/. Additional provisions associated with the ITTATC project also govern the use of information obtained via this web site. ITTATC values the privacy of visitors to its web site (www.ittatc.org). We collect very little personal information about visitors, and do so only if the visitor chooses to provide this information, for example in completing an online form.

Resale of Information to Third Parties

We do not give, share, sell, rent, loan, trade, lease or otherwise transfer any personal information collected at our site.

Non-personal information:

Like most web sites, the Georgia Institute of Technology/CATEA collects standard traffic logs of all requests made to its web servers. ITTATC staff routinely accesses the following information from the ITTATC site log files:
  • Domain names of visitors, e.g., gatech.edu or aol.com
  • Files requested by visitors
  • The dates and times of visits to our site
  • The addresses from which visitors linked to our Web site
  • Specific search keywords and phrases entered by visitors in querying the ITTATC Natural Language Search or Knowledge Base
  • Selected items from a list of matches provided by the Natural Language Search or Knowledge Base.
All of this information is reviewed solely in aggregate form by ITTATC collaborators or staff, in order to make our site more useful for visitors and may be reported to our funding agency, NIDRR.

Information Collected from E-mail You Send to Us

If you decide to send us an electronic mail message (e-mail), the message will usually contain your return e-mail address. If you include personally-identifying information in your e-mail because you want us to address issues specific to your situation, we may use that information in responding to your request. ITTATC staff may circulate your e-mail address and/or the content of your message, only to the extent deemed necessary to address your specific issues and only to those who understand your privacy is our concern.

Information Collected from Interactive Forms

On some of our web pages, we offer interactive forms that let you voluntarily submit personal information (such as your e-mail address, name, or organization). This occurs when you are registering for various conferences, workshops, or training sessions offered by ITTATC; requesting ITTATC publications; or providing feedback to ITTATC regarding publications and services. In those cases, all submitted information is used only for the expressed purposes for which it is intended and is not made available to any third party.

Program Feedback and Evaluation

The process required by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Georgia Institute of Technology requires that all research and program evaluations involving human subjects be governed by their rules, which include the option to provide anonymous feedback. An e-mail address has been specifically set up to ensure project management is not permitted to determine the identity of those submitting feedback.

If you wish to provide official project or program feedback with anonymity, please contact the ITTATC Program Evaluation group at programeval@ittatc.org. Additionally, you may write to us using the USPS mail. Please mark the envelope "Personal" and send to: ITTATC Program Evaluation, C/O CATEA, GA Tech, 490 10th St, NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.

IP Addresses

GTRC may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our Web site. Your IP address is also used to gather broad demographic information for statistical research purposes only.

Cookies

GTRC may place a "cookie" in the browser files of the user's computer. The cookie itself does not contain any personally identifiable information and is used to allow an authenticated user to access pages that require a login. The cookie is created on login and persists for a little while after the user leaves the site, or until logging out. Although the cookie could enable GTRC to relate a user's use of this site to information that the user has specifically and knowingly provided, GTRC does not do so except in cases as outlined above, or under an official law enforcement directive.

Your Web browser may include an option that allows you not to accept cookies or warn you before accepting them. However, GTRC does not recommend using this option, since some features that require user login will not function properly without them.

Indemnification

You hereby indemnify and hold harmless GTRC, GIT, and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, and their employees, officers, board members and agents (hereinafter "Indemnitees") from and against all claims, suits, liabilities, damages, costs, fees, expenses or losses arising out of or resulting from your use of the Site under this Agreement, including but not limited to any third party claims against Indemnitees for patent, copyright, and/or trademark infringement and/or patent interference resulting from your submission to the Site.

Entire Agreement

This Agreement is the complete and entire agreement between the parties and supersedes any prior agreement, whether written or oral.

If you don't agree to the terms contained in this Agreement, please exit the Site immediately.
