Background:
All states currently have some position regarding web accessibility. While some have laws requiring web accessibility, others have issued a "statement of commitment to Web Accessibility." While a statement of a commitment represents an effort to encourage entities to provide access, in most cases it does not require compliance or conformance to specific processes and standards. Whether you choose to develop a new web accessibility policy and/or standards, or you choose to amend an existing policy or accessibility statement, the Web Access Policy & Standards Construction Tool is designed to help you: a.) Examine specific considerations, and b.) Develop a comprehensive policy and the supporting standards that specify the requirements of agencies, web developers and contractors. Using the Web Access Policy & Standards Construction Tool: You can choose to use the Web Access Policy & Standards Construction Tool in two ways: you can view the Tool in “Demo Mode” or you can register and create an account which enables you to make selections and save data. DEMO MODE You may continue using "Demo Mode" without signing in, but you will not be able to save any data and certain parts of this application will not be available. CREATE AN ACCOUNT TO USE THE TOOL If you would like to develop a web accessibility policy and/or standards document you must register and create an account. Creating an account will enable you to develop a document, save your selections and return at your convenience until you have completed the development of your selected documents. Select the document you want to work on |
