Please be advised that the information on this site may be out of date. *** Collaborators During the course of the five year project, contracts are negotiated with key experts to participate in material development to be released by the project. These contracts vary in length depending on the expertise of the collaborator and current project needs. Following is an alphabetical listing of collaborators, both current and past. CURRENT: The Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access The Georgia Tech Center for Assistive Technology & Environmental Access, in collaboration with the organizations referenced on this page, provides project management, assesses and reports industry needs, compiles and creates training materials, and collects and disseminates information.
Georgia Tech Research Institute The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), which is the nonprofit, applied research arm of the Georgia Institute of Technology, provides project management, assesses and reports industry needs, collects and disseminates technical information, and evaluates the project.
IDEAL Group Incorporated IDEAL Group is an organization dedicated to helping their valued clients maximize the accessibility and usability of the information technology products and services they provide to their customers. IDEAL supports its mission through consulting, education and professional services.
Inclusive Technologies Inclusive Technologies provides ongoing consultative services related to accessible design and advances in the telecommunications and information technology industry.
Law, Health Policy and Disability Center The Law, Health Policy & Disability Center is an emerging leader in technology, education, and research, focused on improving the quality of life for persons living with disabilities. They collaborate to develop an assessment protocol for the states on Section 508. They also provide information dissemination and training to the state level information technology and procurement officers. The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) advises across all project areas and provides specific support for government and legislative issues related to the cooperative agreement establishing ITTATC.
PAST: The Association of Tech Act Projects The Association of Tech Act Projects (ATAP) supports a series of activities to identify and respond to the needs of state chief information and procurement officials. Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers The 10 Regional Disability & Business Technical Assistance Centers provide information, technical assistance and referral on Sections 255 and 508 to consumers, disability-related organizations, state procurement officials, and businesses about accessible information technology and telecommunications equipment and services.
The Information Technology Association of America The Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) assists with linking members of the information technology and telecommunications industry with the ITTATC and the information and services resulting from the ITTATC. ITAA also assists with dissemination to industry through various conference opportunities.
Jim Thatcher Dr. Jim Thatcher offers consulting, evaluation services and training for agencies and companies that seek practical answers to questions related to information technology accessibility. Combining his experience as a screen reader developer with his knowledge of corporate requirements, Jim can help organizations understand the Section 508 regulations and develop solutions that are accessible and usable. Jim was the Vice-Chair of EITTAC, the Advisory Committee that proposed the accessibility standards for Section 508. He led the development of the IBM accessibility guidelines and wrote the ITTATC course on web accessibility. The Trace Center The Trace Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison does research and development of techniques and strategies for building accessibility into systems ranging from computers and the World Wide Web to information transaction machines to cell phones, PDA's, and information appliances. The Center provides an expert training course for industry and consultants entitled "Design for Usability, Flexibility & Accessibility."
The World Institute on Disability The World Institute on Disability collaborates in the development of training materials, needs assessment, curriculum development, training and other dissemination activities.
